Wireless Internet - 3G VS 4G Mobile Internet Service

Written by: Gio Mangano

Wireless Access to the Internet is everywhere, from the local Starbucks to your own home. With more users demanding faster broadband access to the web, Wireless broadband service is now ready to usher in 4g Internet. Is it worth it though, should you now jump onto the 4g bandwagon and dump 3g? Lets compare both.

Wireless 3G

3rd Generation better known as 3G was launched in May of 2001 in Japan. 3G gave wireless users the ability to connect to applications not previously offered to mobile phone users. Mobile TV, video on demand and faster access was now possible with the launch of 3g. Previously access to the Internet was unheard of and besides talking on your cell phone, you couldn't do much more with your mobile phone.

With 3g you could now log on to hotspots across the country offered by providers such as Verizon, Sprint and AT&T and have instant access to the World Wide Web and access your email and surf the web at your leisure. As with all technologies, a better one is just around the corner. That is where 4G Wimax comes into play.

4G Wireless Broadband

4G access to the Internet promises to expand on 3g by offering faster speeds and more consistent video streaming. It does come with one downfall and that is with faster wireless speed comes less battery time. As battery manufacturers create better batteries that offer more time this should be less of a problem. Mobile WiMAX also known as 4g is now being rolled out nationwide to big anticipation. 4G VS 3G speed comparison is what wireless ISP providers like Clearwire are banking on as consumers come on board with 4G Internet Wireless. With connection speed promising to be up to 10 times as fast as 3G, the future looks very bright for 4G broadband service.
